  That was a wonderful post from Tamora and you’re a good interviewer too. It was great to hear her thoughts on writing female leads for stories because much of what she says still holds true.

  I also enjoyed the interview because Tamora came onto my LJ when I was feeling at my lowest, back in 2007, after I had learned of what Marvel did to Spider-Man and Mary Jane, and offered some kind words of support. I’m not even sure how she came across my LJ, but just that she came in and said some kind words and took the time to read my point of view and how angry I was over what they were saying in splitting up a happily married couple was fantastic.

  I also just bought Alanna The Song of the Lioness after listening to this podcast.

  So again, thank you for this.

  The best interview I’ve seen or heard of Tamora Pierce.Been a Big Fan since I picked up Magic Steps for a book report in seventh grade. I’m in college now.
  I fell in love with her characters and a her books are great and I’ve read them all. Though the ending of Mastiff and the short stories Nawat and The Dragon’s Tale felt odd in places and did not reflect her write style.

  So exciting to hear from one of my favourite authors. Thanks so much for this podcast. I have read almost all of her books, just going to pick up Mastiff today.

  Thank goodness Tamora is such a prolific writer!

  Funny, every book of hers I’ve read I thought – why haven’t they made this a movie? Then when you were chatting – duh because the film industry is afraid of such strong women characters.

  Truly they’d arse Alana up – making her girly somehow – and it would make so many fans furious.

  I’m glad to have stumbled upon this site. My 18 yr old grand-niece wants to be a writer – I’m sending her to this site!!!
